This year’s Pantone Colour of the Year 2023 is Viva Magenta 18-1750.

Initially, I thought it was very loud, but I love magenta and can see many ways to incorporate it into my designs. I have a stash of magenta silk fabrics that I have been planning to use in a mixed media piece, a junk journal cover and some ornaments.

Viva Magenta first caught my eye as a living room color, all four walls! I immediately thought no..no..no… that’s going to raise your blood pressure, bring on or amplify aggression or lusty thoughts.

Although I think it’s too intense for a room color, I think it makes a beautiful accent color and could be used as a wallpaper pattern, florals come to mind. With gold and teal accent cushions, I imagine a velvet sofa in Viva Magenta.
